Montana Quality Educator Student Loan Assistance Program

If you’re a teacher in Montana, you may be eligible for loan assistance depending on where you teach.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for this award, you must teach full time in a public school, special education cooperative, the Montana School for the Deaf and Blind, the Montana Youth Challenge Program, or a state youth correctional facility. You must teach at an “impacted” school with critical educator shortages.

Unfortunately, this program lost funding in 2017, but you can contact local legislators and request that they make funding it a priority in 2019.

How much is the award?

If you’re eligible, you can receive up to $3,000 per year for up to four years.

Which loans qualify?

• Stafford loans
• Grad PLUS loans
• Consolidation loans
• Perkins loans
• Private student loans

How do I apply?

Keep checking the Montana University System website to see if the Montana Quality Educator Student Loan Assistance Program will get funded again or to look for other loan repayment help programs.
