Providing healthcare to underserved areas in California not only helps a population in need, but can also help change the amount of student loans you need to pay.
If you are a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, a California resident, and a licensed healthcare professional that provides healthcare services in federally designated professional shortage areas to improve access to healthcare in underserved areas in California, you may qualify for this award.
You must work full-time (40 hours a week) providing primary care in California for a minimum of 2 years, or half-time (20 hours a week) for a minimum of 4 years. Private practices do not qualify.
If you work full-time, you can receive up to $110,000. You may receive a $50,000 maximum for a 2-year commitment, $20,000 a year for a 3- or 4-year commitment, and $10,000 a year for a 5- or 6-year commitment.
For those working part-time, the award amounts are half of those listed above.
