I need to create an FSA ID

To get started, take the following steps:

  1. Go to the “Create a New FSA ID” page here.

  2. Enter your email address and create a new username and password.
  3. Enter your Social Security number, date of birth, and full name.
  4. Link your Federal Student AID PIN to your new account. You can create an FSA ID without your PIN. However linking your PIN to your new FSA ID can expedite the approval process.
  5. Create several “Challenge Questions and Answers.”
  6. Review your profile information and accept the terms and conditions.
  7. Verify and confirm your email address.
  8. Your FSA ID has been created!

I need help finding my FSA ID username and/or password

To find your username or password:

  1. Visit the FSA ID page here.
  2. Click “Edit My FSA ID” at the top of the page.

  3. Click “Forgot My Username” or “Forgot My Password” to retrieve your username and/or password.

  4. Enter your email and click “Email Secure Code.” Follow the instructions on the screen.
  5. If you’re unable to access your email or locate the correct email address, you may also retrieve your username and/or password using the “Challenge Questions” option.

I don’t know if I have an FSA

If you have not logged in to your account prior to May 2015, it’s likely you do not have an FSA ID as FSA ID replaced the Federal Student Aid PIN on May 10, 2015.

To find out if you have an FSA ID, do the following:

  1. Visit the FSA ID page here.
  2. Click “Edit My FSA ID” at the top of the page.

  3. Enter your FSA ID username and password if you think you know them. You may also enter your email in place of your username if you’ve verified your email address.
  4. If you do not know your username, email, or password associated with your account, click “Forgot My Username” to attempt to retrieve your username and/or password.

  5. Enter your email and click “Email Secure Code.” Follow the instructions on the screen.
  6. If no email or username is found, you need to create an FSA ID. To do this, follow the instructions above.
