It’s a worthy goal to get through college without taking out loans. But thanks to the rising cost of attending school, there’s a good chance you will need student loans to cover at least part of your college funding.
Whether you want to consolidate and refinance your current student loans, or whether you need private loans to bridge a gap in funding from other sources to pay for college, it’s possible to find a number of options with Connext from ReliaMax.
In August 2016, ReliaMax introduced its Connext Private Student Loan solution.
ReliaMax is a platform and service provider for student loans. The new Connext product is designed to help students find lenders to refinance their student loans or issue them new undergraduate or graduate student loans.
However, rather than connecting students with the big banks, Connext aims to help them get quotes from smaller regional banks and alternative lenders.
Many of these lenders don’t have access to the structure that allows them to underwrite and service loans. ReliaMax provides this structure and administration, and the lenders provide the funds.
With the help of Connext, smaller lenders can take advantage of the technology and network of ReliaMax private student loans, and borrowers get access to more options for private student loans and student loan refinancing.
Using the Connext online platform
The Connext platform is fairly simple and straightforward to use. By clicking on the blue “What’s My Rate?” button, it’s easy to get an idea of what you might pay based on your loan terms. Your actual rate, however, is determined by your credit history and other factors, so you may not qualify for the lowest advertised rate.
You can see a list of documentation needed to apply for a loan in the rate section. This is helpful information that ensures the application process goes smoothly. Collect the documents ahead of time and double-check the eligibility requirements before clicking on the “Apply Now” button.
As of this writing, Connext is not available for students to receiving funding, but you can fill out a simple form to get on the waiting list. All you need is your name, email, phone number, school name, and loan type.
Once the platform is fully available for borrowers, you will be able to fill in the correct form and receive several quotes at once, allowing you to determine which loan works best for you.
Connext also offers a number of tools designed to help you manage your student loans. You can figure out how to include your loan repayment in your budget, as well as choose different payment options, including automatic transfer so you don’t have to worry about remembering to pay.
Connext interest rates and fees
Connext interest rates for student loan refinancing starts at 4.25% APR. For undergraduate and graduate loans, the rates start at 4.55% APR. Your rate will be based on your credit score and other factors.
They offer up to seven choices for refinancing loans, including variable-rate loans for 5, 10, 15, and 20 years, and fixed-rate loans for 5, 10 and 15 years.
Private undergraduate and graduate student loans offer fewer options for choosing loan terms, but you can still get quotes for variable and fixed rates of different term lengths.
There are no loan origination fees with Connext, and no prepayment penalties.
Connext eligibility requirements
In order to apply for a loan through Connext, you need to be a US citizen or permanent resident. You can also apply if you have a cosigner that meets those requirements.
You must have graduated from an eligible school or be planning to attend an eligible school. Finally, Connext has credit requirements you must meet, or you must have a cosigner that meets the credit requirements.
Connext customer service
Because this is a new product, there isn’t a lot of information about customer service. However, Connext is working to ensure each customer is cared for every step of the way.
There are dedicated student lending specialists that service the loans and answer questions. The website is easy to navigate and use, and there are several different payment options available to students. Once you create an account, you can manage it easily online.
